Precisando de literatura grega antiga?

Pois no Tyndale Tech, de David Instone-Brewer – Tyndale House, Cambridge, Reino Unido – leio o post Searching Ancient Greek Literature:

The bread and butter of New Testament studies is finding out how a word is used elsewhere. Usually this means looking it up in a good lexicon, but a real scholar does a word search. This has recently got a whole lot easier. TLG and Perseus are still the best sources, but now there are new ways to use them, including instant lexical help which isn’t restricted to the speed of the web. Whether you want to do word searches throughout all Greek literature, or you just want to quickly look up a Greek word now and then, read on. I also want your help adding to the ultimate list of 5000 early Greek texts and translations.

A lista de recursos, explicados detalhadamente, é a seguinte:

  • TLG – ‘All’ of Greek literature, in Greek
  • Perseus – the earliest Greek literature, with English
  • Electronic lexicons for Greek – quicker and better than paper
  • Diogenese – the key to reading untranslated Greek
  • Fonts – the easiest Unicode for Mac & PC
  • Finding translations on the web

Ancient Languages of Syria-Palestine and Arabia

Em 2004 foi publicada uma aclamada enciclopédia das Línguas Antigas do Mundo, The Cambridge Encyclopedia of the World’s Ancient Languages, obra dirigida por Roger D. Woodard, Professor of Classics at the State University of New York, Buffalo.

Isto facilita a aquisição!

The Ancient Languages of Syria-Palestine and Arabia. New York: Cambridge University Press, 2008, 282 p. – ISBN 9780521684989.

“This book, derived from the acclaimed Cambridge Encyclopedia of the World’s Ancient Languages, describes the ancient languages of Syria-Palestine and Arabia, for the convenience of students and specialists working in that area. Each chapter of the work focuses on an individual language or, in some instances, a set of closely related varieties of a language. Providing a full descriptive presentation, each of these chapters examines the writing system(s), phonology, morphology, syntax and lexicon of that language, and places the language within its proper linguistic and historical context. The volume brings together an international array of scholars, each a leading specialist in ancient language study. While designed primarily for scholars and students of linguistics, this work will prove invaluable to all whose studies take them into the realm of ancient language”. Roger D. Woodard is the Andrew V.V. Raymond Professor of Classics at the State University of New York, Buffalo.

WOODARD, R. D. (ed.) The Ancient Languages of Mesopotamia, Egypt and Aksum. New York: Cambridge University Press, 2008, 272 p. – ISBN 9780521684972.

Aprenda Hebraico

No dia 29 de junho de 2006, publiquei o post Site de Jacob Richman ensina gratuitamente hebraico moderno. Leia.

LAYTON, B. Coptic in 20 Lessons: Introduction to Sahidic Coptic With Exercises & Vocabularies. Leuven: Peeters Publishers, 2007, viii + 204 p. ISBN 9789042918108.

“Lexicons are at the heart of Biblical Studies, but usually we neglect them because they’re cumbersome to use, and anyway our Bible software tells us what the word means. But without a real lexicon we miss so much – the nuance, context, and possible meanings. So I decided to make real lexicons easier to use. I’ve put them at 2LetterLookup – Bible Lexicons in Greek… Hebrew… Aramaic…“.
