Resenha do livro de Lemche por C. D. Isbell
Em The Bible and Interpretation, Charles David Isbell, Professor da Louisiana State University, publicou uma resenha do mais recente livro de Niels Peter Lemche The Old Testament Between Theology and History: A Critical Survey. Louisville, KY: Westminster John Knox, 2008, 504 p. – ISBN 9780664232450.
Um trecho, como “aperitivo”:
It is fascinating that Lemche concludes this section with a chapter titled, “The Contribution of the Copenhagen School,” particularly in light of the frequent protests previously lodged against the use of a single phrase to define scholars like Lemche, his colleague Thomas Thompson, Philip Davies, Mario Liverani, Keith Whitelam, and others, all of whom share a disdain for the idea that the history of ancient Israel as found in biblical texts is “a normal textbook of the history of ancient Israel” (p. 382). In Lemche’s opinion, “It is not possible to reconstruct a real history that has much in common with the story told by biblical historiographers” (p. 161). His own presentation of what such a real history would look like is offered in a concluding appendix titled, “The History of Israel or the History of Palestine” (pp. 393-453)? While Lemche’s deconstruction of Old Testament “history” offers little that is not already well known to followers of the “Copenhagen School,” these opening chapters provide a useful summary for students and those unfamiliar with minimalist arguments. Now the idea that the Bible does not offer “normal/real/actual history” is not limited to scholars of the “Copenhagen School.” What is unique about Lemche is the construct that he proposes as an alternative…
Charles David Isbell was educated at Bethany College and Brandeis University (PhD), and has studied in Israel, Jordan and Germany. Dr. Isbell has served congregations in Massachusetts as Cantor and/or interim rabbi. He has written over 100 articles and several other books in Biblical studies, Hebrew, and Aramaic.

Em Journal of Hebrew Scriptures, da Universidade de Alberta, Canadá, no vol. 9, artigo 17, de 2009, leio um interessante texto sobre um livro de Thomas Römer que trata da Obra Histórica Deuteronomista (OHDtr):

Clark, 2005) began in a special session of the Deuteronomistic History section of the Society of Biblical Literature at the SBL annual meeting held in November 2008, in Boston, MA. It includes an introduction by the editor and contributions by Richard Nelson, Steven McKenzie, Eckart Otto, and Yairah Amit. It concludes with a response by Thomas Römer.

Utilizei este livro neste semestre com o Segundo Ano de Teologia no CEARP, na disciplina de Literatura Deuteronomista. Bruno, do segundo ano, fez uma resenha do livro e a apresentou no final do semestre, que terminou ontem. Portanto, é tema sobre o qual estivemos falando, nestes dias, por aqui. E que me interessa muito.
O artigo do JHS tem 49 páginas em formato pdf. Nele o editor Person explica que os quatro autores – Nelson, McKenzie, Otto e Amit – foram escolhidos para este debate exatamente por terem abordagens diferentes em relação à OHDtr:
The four reviewers were chosen, because they represent different approaches to the Deuteronomistic History. Richard Nelson represents the dual-redaction model popular among Americans; Steven McKenzie represents the “neo-Nothians,” who argue for a single individual, the Deuteronomist; Eckart Otto has been involved in the recent discussions in Europe, especially concerning how Deuteronomy relates to both the Pentateuch, Hexateuch, and the Deuteronomistic History; and Yairah Amit represents discussions of literary/narrative approaches to the Deuteronomistic History.

No dia 25 de junho, o escritor português José Saramago, Prêmio Nobel de Literatura 1998, vai lançar em livro os textos de seu blog, O Caderno de Saramago.
O título? O Caderno.

Onde ele diz, por exemplo:
¿Qué tipo de ideas destina al blog?
Ninguna en particular. Los sismógrafos no eligen los terremotos, reaccionan a los que van ocurriendo. El blog es eso, un sismógrafo. Aquellos que me han leído saben que pueden encontrarse cada día ante algo totalmente inesperado.
¿Hay una forma distinta de escribir para el blog (más rápido, sin tanta corrección…)?
No falta quien piense mucho para responder: “La practica del blog ha llevado a la escritura a muchas personas que antes poco o nada escribían”. Lástima que muchas de ellas piensen que no merece la pena preocuparse con la calidad de estilo de lo que se escribe. El resultado está siendo que, a la vez que se escribe más, se está escribiendo peor. Personalmente cuido tanto del texto de un blog como de una página de novela.
Al principio del libro usted escribe “El blog va iluminándole el camino al autor”. ¿Qué significa eso?
Si el blog es un espacio para la reflexión, y yo intento siempre que lo sea, no debe sorprender que ilumine a quien lo escribe. Es una consecuencia lógica.

Recebi, dias atrás, o número de abril de 2009 da CBQ – The Catholic Biblical Quarterly. Este é o volume 71, número 2.
Nas páginas 367-368, Megan Bishop Moore, da Wake Forest University, Winston-Salem, NC, resenha o livro de Philip R. Davies, The Origins of Biblical Israel. London: T & T Clark, 2007, x + 197 p. – ISBN 9780567043818 (Hardcover) – publicado em Paperback em 2009.
