Already well known in its two-volume first edition, this is the most extensive revision yet of one of the most complete Hebrew Grammars available in English. This edition brings the work up to the present by taking account of developments in our understanding of the Hebrew language during the intervening years. The work is now presented in a paperback single volume. Professor Muraoka hopes that this helps to make the book more attractive and the content easier to use. As with the ear-lier edition students of the Old Testament, Hebrew and Semitics who have a basic knowledge of Bib-lical Hebrew will find much useful insight and information here.
El desarrollo de los estudios bíblicos ha hecho sentir universalmente –en particular entre los católicos– la necesidad de un conocimiento más profundo de la “lengua santa”. Por otra parte, los progresos de la filología semítica obligan a estudiar la lengua hebrea de una forma más científica, como ya desde tiempo se viene haciendo con otras lenguas muertas como el latín y el griego. La presente obra quiere satisfacer la necesidad de una gramática del hebreo bíblico suficientemente completa y de carácter científico que tienen cada vez mayor de estudiantes que sienten la necesidad de ir más allá del estadio de conocimiento puramente empírico y quieren sentirse capaces de resolver las múltiples dificultades gramaticales del texto masorético, en lugar de pasarlas por alto.
