Ney Brasil Pereira, Mestre em Ciências Bíblicas pelo Pontifício Instituto Bíblico de Roma e Professor no ITESC, Instituto Teológico de Santa Catarina, em Florianópolis, escreveu uma resenha da Bíblia Sagrada Almeida Século 21. São Paulo: Vida Nova, 2008.Bíblia Sagrada Almeida Século XXI

Este resenha foi publicada na REB 70, fascículo 277, de janeiro de 2010, p. 238-244, e, mais recentemente, na Estudos Bíblicos n. 106, 2010/2, p. 85-92. O texto está disponível online em pdf.

Após chamar a atenção para algumas características e novidades da Almeida Século 21, Ney Brasil se detém mais longamente nas introduções a cada livro da Bíblia, dizendo: “parece-me que aí está o calcanhar de Aquiles desta ‘Almeida Século XXI’. Não pelo fato de elas não serem relevantes, mas pela opção tradicionalista, ou fundamentalista, que as caracteriza nas questões de crítica histórica e sob outros aspectos”.

O resenhista sempre cita muitos exemplos daquilo que afirma. Como este: “Se desde o século XVII se questiona, por razões críticas, se Moisés é realmente o autor do Pentateuco, como é que se pode escrever, por exemplo, que ‘é provável que Moisés tenha sido o autor do próprio livro do Gênesis’ (p. 1)?”. E Jonas? “Para o introdutor, o livro de Jonas é ‘biográfico’ (p. 915), não havendo a mínima alusão a um gênero literário diferente…”.

Ney Brasil Pereira  (04.12.1930 - 04.01.2017)Outro aspecto que Ney Brasil salienta de modo crítico é a opção por uma linguagem não inclusiva, o que, segundo ele, se torna problemático numa tradução atualizada: “Há muito tempo, mas ultimamente cada vez mais, interpelam-se, num auditório, ‘senhoras e senhores’, ‘irmãs e irmãos’, ‘amigas e amigos’. E, pelo menos de uns vinte anos para cá, se fala sempre ‘ser humano’, ou um expressão equivalente, quando a mulher está incluída”. Muitos exemplos ilustram o que foi dito…

Por outro lado, Ney Brasil vai dizer, mais para o final da resenha, que “a tradução atualizada é o ‘carro forte’ desta ‘Almeida Século XXI'”. Terminando com uma constatação e/ou desafio: “Outros leitores atentos deverão ter feito, ou ainda farão, as suas observações e sugestões de melhoria desta edição excepcional. A tradução atualizada e fiel da Bíblia continuará desafiando-nos, justificando assim esta e outras versões do texto sagrado”.
