A detailed commentary on the book of Amos, using the hypertext format to provide pictures and explanations (e.g. of technical terms). Includes literal English translation or Hebrew text linked to brief word studies. The Amos commentary is the trial prototype for a series of commentaries covering the whole Bible text. Written by established scholars. The Postmodern Bible will include resources of several kinds. As a true multimedia "document" the user will have access to text, pictures, sounds and potentially even video clips.

In this essay, Jennifer Dines, of Cambridge University, presents the Septuagint in relationship to Hellenistic Judaism, and in addition, touches briefly on another area of increasing interest: the influence of the Septuagint on the language and thought of early Christianity and the part it plays in the history of biblical interpretation.
